Theotokos - Wilton's Revisted

The magnificent restoration of the Wilton's retable combined with the reading of Henry James's figure in the carpet drove me to a reflexion on the universality of pre-renaissance works. They drew up to the abstract by endlessly confronting themselves to classic themes from the Gospel. The dogma stands in both it's strenght and it's strangeness while becoming closer to the viewer. Eternity is made flesh, the universal and total absraction is made figure and the fingers of the human and the divine join.
